Ferrets

Hello all!

Another eventful week in the field as I continue to learn and grow. Winter is hopefully over and for the first time in my life I'm very thankful for pleasant 40 to 50 degree weather.

On Monday Elder Duffin and I met Mike. He's the father of 7 young kids with a wonderful wife and he works at a factory modeling and constructing artificial body parts like hips or arms and it was super cool to get to know him.

We were walking down this one run down suburban area close to down town Lansing and he was retrieving his mail and he asked us if we were cops and we gave him the run down and he was very interested because he and his wife are active in different churches... Catholicism and Lutheranism... and they are searching for more unity and less contention and further spiritual guidance so he and his wife invited us to sit down with them and their kids to teach a short lesson.

It went amazing and they are having us for dinner and another lesson this week.

Wow being apart of the one and only true church and having the fullness of the gospel and helping others receive it is amazing! I'll be preparing hard to meet the needs of him and his family. His kids love us and we are so grateful for the opportunity to bring the spirit of God into peoples homes.

The following day we had district counsel which means that all the missionaries in the city of Lansing got together to have a productive meeting on missionary work and to share our productivity on preaching. The district discussed how to simplify the teachings of Christ in order for people to become more receptive to the message and I learned a lot because of how accomplished my fellow missionaries are. It's good to get good input and productive criticism from people with experience.

Elder Duffin and I are given a nice Chevy Malibu to help keep the mission work productive and in order to conserve money and resources for the mission funds... we are only allowed to use so many miles a month and about half way through the week we started running a little low so we did much more walking then driving these past few days which was very nice.

Because I'm on a mission and it's my job and desire to love everyone the way Christ does it's become rather entertaining to listen to the insults that people shout at us as they drive by. God bless the people of Michigan!

Also.. for those of you who believe I'm going to gain a lot of weight on my mission please don't get your hopes up... eating healthy is cheaper and exercising is one of the nicest parts of the day. Missionaries in the area next to us were so kind as to give me some 50 pound and 20 pound dumbbells so life is pretty good there.

Also.. I would like to give a shout out to my lovely grandparents and my best friend and my mom who sent me a sufficient amount of peanut butter and other stuff as well... I have some arrangements to make as soon as I get home because of it :)

Michigan State is the most popular entity for sports out here so everyone we teach and talk to just fills us in on March Madness which is nice because the city has been having a much more exciting vibe then usual lately.

I found out that opening day in the MLB was a few days ago and I died a little bit inside because I miss sports ALOT. Working hard and having tons of fun and good things to come. I love the emails from home and I love you all dearly. Cant wait to fill everyone in again.

Love,
Elder Connolly

PS.. staying very organized and clean in the apartment we've been given... did some rearranging and I hope my mission will help me be tidy and not like a slob for the rest of my life.

Pss.. last night Elder Duffin and I ate dinner at a members house and they had over 30 ferrets. They made great smoked burgers and it was absolutely a fascinating event.

Not a ton of great pictures... I wanted to get one of the ferrets but the lady said they didn't like phones but here's my insane amount of peanut butter and what I consider to be an organized office/ dining room.
